Indigenous Cultural Communications Workshop

26/04/2018 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

In 2018, we want to inspire you to engage with Indigenous health through language and culture. This year, we’ve got some incredible speakers who have organised a program for you designed to challenge your view of health in Australia and prepare you for work with Indigenous patients.

Whether you’re in medicine, dentistry, nursing or allied health, all are welcome. All health professionals will be exposed to Indigenous health during their careers so it is important to be culturally safe and aware. Interns are also welcome!

Food will be provided from 5.40pm with the workshop commencing at 6pm.

TIMETABLE
– Karina Lester: Importance of Language + Introduction to Pitjantjatjara
– Prof. Rob Amery: Miscommunications in a health setting
– A/Prof. Jill Benson AM / Devinia Binell (GPEx): Cross-cultural nuances
