Celebrating NAIDOC week

VOICE. TREATY. TRUTH. Let’s work together for a shared future.

NAIDOC Week is a significant week of the Australian calendar, celebrating Australian Indigenous culture and heritage whilst commemorating the history and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year, the theme of ‘Voice. Treaty. Truth.’ honours the significance of the Indigenous language and voice, incorporating key elements which help to bring about unified reform, reconciliation and recognition.

Australia still does not have a treaty or some other kind of formal acknowledgement or arrangement with its Indigenous minorities, and this, being the primary aspiration of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander movement, cannot be achieved without hearing and acknowledging the true story of colonisation.

With many events including panel discussions on colonisation, Kaurna language workshops and Aboriginal Art classes, there is something for everyone to be involved in whilst moving towards a shared and truthful understanding of country.
