Staff Profiles

Dr Margaret Judd, prior to moving to the Hervey Bay area in 2006, was senior clinical psychologist at the North East Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (NECAMHS) and Wodonga Regional Adult Community Mental Health Service in Victoria. More recently, she was employed at the Fraser Coast Integrated Mental Health Services on the Case Management Team where she provided therapy and conducted assessments on adults with severe and chronic mental illness.

Margaret has considerable experience in diagnosis and management of Autism and associated disabilities, and while working at NECAMHS was coordinator of the Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessment Service working with Paediatricians, Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Psychiatrist and school personnel.  She also spent 7 years working with seriously emotionally disturbed adolescents who were placed in residential treatment in California.   Over the years Margaret's private practice has included  individuals, families, children and adolescents, couples, supervision of probationary psychologists, supervision of clinical psychology students, neurocognitive and autism assessments and some organisational consulting work.

 

Justine Clark is the principal of Insight and is also employed part-time as a clinical psychologist on the Acute Care Team of the Fraser Coast Integrated Mental Health Service (since April 2006). In this capacity, she has undertaken diagnostic assessments and delivered crisis interventions as well as brief therapies to address a wide variety of mental health difficulties. Justine has developed a particular interest in the management of mood and anxiety disorders as well as adjustment disorders and people presenting with self-harming behaviours.

Previously, Justine trained in child and adolescent mental health at NECAMHS and inpatient adult mental at Northside Private Hospital, Melbourne. Justine worked for a number of years as a rehabilitation consultant contracted to Centerlink and a psychologist for Disability Services in Victoria. Justine has extensive experience in the management of behavioural disorders, substance problems, and mental illness in persons with an intellectual disability. Prior to training in clinical psychology she was a genetic counsellor at Hunter Genetics and the N.S.W. Fragile-X Service situated in Newcastle, N.S.W. Justine has held numerous teaching positions in undergraduate psychology and postgraduate Genetic Counselling.

 

Mr Larry Wood is a social worker with extensive experience in mental health care. Mr Wood has worked in long-term inpatient psychiatric institutions in Australia (Wallston Park), as well as in community based care with persons with intellectual and physical disabilities in England. More recently, he worked in community mental health providing both (a) long term management to psychiatric patients as part of a Mobile Intensive Treatment Team in Ipswich and, (b) acute care on Crisis Assessment Teams in both Melbourne and Caboulture.

Mr Wood is available for employee assistance program clients who would prefer a male therapist and will be acting as a co-therapist in the group therapy programs when they contain 8-10 participants. Later, Mr Wood will be providing social work services for people with chronic physical illnesses and focused psychological interventions under the relevant Medicare Rebate schemes.
